Grants and scholarships for Asian women

asiancation. This group of students can struggle even further with barriers such as language difficulties and integration challenges in colleges and universities.

Nonetheless, this underserved group can find help today in the form of Asian and Asian American scholarships for college education. Through student funding and private donor organizations, female students of Asian descent have scholarship resources that are enabling first-generation Asian students to have the opportunity to experience their dream:  a college education.

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund  This is an annual scholarship for Asian students that is open to Asian and Pacific Islander students, and it assists them with higher learning in various locations around the U.S.  The students can choose from a broad variety of degree programs.

With a GPA of 2.7, you can apply for this scholarship fund as a beginning student on the freshman level or at any other time during your four-year program. (However, to be approved for this scholarship, you must have at least one semester remaining in your program.) Applicants seeking funds for college must also have approval for federal funding for higher learning.

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund is not limited to specific fields of study. As a high school applicant for the college scholarships for Asians, you are eligible for funding for programs in a community college as well as a bachelor’s program in a university.

Asian applicants also have the opportunity to qualify for one-time scholarship for being adopted.  These scholarships can provide up to $2,500 from external organizations that collaborate with the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund. Upon applying for this educational fund, you could receive college education funding from The Coca-Cola Foundation, Honda, The Wal-Mart Foundation, and Hilton Worldwide among other recognized institutions.

Central California Asian Pacific Women Scholarship  The Central California Asian Pacific Women Scholarship (CCAPW) assists Fresno County women of Asian Pacific decent in pursuing education in undergraduate and graduate institutions within the U.S.

The goal of this Asian-Indian scholarship fund is to ensure increased representation of Asian women in diverse fields of education. The CCAPW believes that academic participation of minority Asian female students in institutions of higher learning is crucial.  It not only strengthens their personal development, but it assists the entire Asian community through their accomplishments.  CCAPW believes it will have far-reaching effect on the overall international community as well.

An applicant of the scholarships for Asian students is required to submit two letters of recommendation, an acceptance letter from a recognized U.S university, and official transcripts for proof of academic excellence. Students with extensive needs should also submit a financial statement to support their application for college funds. They must also have applied for additional federal funding.

One unique division of applicants for the CCAPW’s college scholarships for Asians is the group of female students who are from a family where the parents did not receive any further education after high school. Special attention is given to this group of applicants because the CCAPW wishes to assist the most critically-challenged female students, who, by all indications, have the least opportunities to attain higher education.

Other special-interest groups include academically-successful female students and leaders in sports activities. Also, if you are a new or continuing graduate student pursuing education, health or business studies, you stand a good chance to receive special funding for college education.

Asian Women in Business Scholarship Fund  This fund recognizes and supports both successful Asian women and female Asian college students who are interested in pursuing higher education despite their financial challenges.

The Asian Women in Business Scholarship Fund offers scholarships for Asian women for four- year undergraduate courses in accredited institutions in the U.S.  To be eligible for this fund, you must demonstrate proof that you are of at least 50% Asian or Pacific Islander heritage. There are scholarships for Chinese students, Indians, and other Asians who are adopted by parents of varying nationalities.

Unlike other scholarship funds, the Asian Women in Business Scholarship Fund has a strict requirement that applicants be enrolled for at least one semester in their chosen school. During that time, the applicant is required to earn a GPA of no less than 3.0.

Since these are highly competitive Asian scholarships, you stand a better chance of qualifying for aid if, in addition to academic excellence, you have some type of entrepreneurial achievement.  For example, you may have experience in the area of running a business.  In that case, you must show at least a one-year business net gain as proof of success. Applicants who have no successful business ventures can demonstrate leadership qualities instead. These must be leadership roles in community activities that are beneficial to their society.

Pinay Aspire Scholarships  This $1,000 Philippino scholarship is given along with a mentorship plan that assists needy Philippino students from the San Francisco Bay region in achieving their academic goals. (The Pinay Aspire Philippino college scholarships are only for Philippino female students who are permanent residents of the San Francisco Bay area and/or have legal U.S citizenship.)

These scholarships strive to increase the number of minority Philippino students in academic institutions and to provide access to quality educational facilities that a large number of female Asian students have never had. A letter of recommendation letter is required with the application. High school student applicants can submit letters of recommendation from their teachers. Applicants must also demonstrate, in the form of a written essay, that they are financially needy and require funding for college education.

These scholarships for Philippino Americans are especially designed for graduating high school students who are waiting to attend their first full academic year of college. It is not required for the applicants to have already chosen a program of study at the time of application. However, preference is given to applicants whose programs of study will contribute to community development along with their personal and professional development.

Students who are awarded this scholarship will have access to a one-year mentorship facility to guide them in their choice of courses and career options as well as provide personal development coaching for a better-quality life. Philippino students with a keen interest in developing their community and inspiring other community students are preferred.

Asian American Women’s Alliance Scholarships  Dedicated to honoring Asian women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in various fields, the Asian American Women’s Alliance is an equal opportunity scholarship fund for Asian women from various parts of the world. It sponsors scholarships for adoptees from Asian countries who permanently reside in the U.S regardless of their age at adoption.

Awarding of these Asian minority scholarships for college education is done on a merit basis. Qualified applicants are awarded up to $500 in college funding annually. Each year, four female Asian students are funded, and they receive additional resources such as job training, mentorship, and networking for personal and professional development.

Recipients of these Asian American college scholarships are also given access to a community of successful Asian and Asian American women who hold positions of success and leadership. This scholarship also provides links to volunteer organizations that work with the Asian American Women’s Alliance in promoting their organizations as preferred employers for Asians.

Asian women need not fear that they can’t achieve their dream of higher education and success in the workplace.  Scholarship opportunities are available now – more than ever before in history – and serious applicants can use them to create a promising future!
